1. Legislative Changes
The list of laws regarding the Slovak Republic´s interest in granting national visas to selected groups of third-country nationals in specific occupations includes:
Law No. 521/2021 Coll. on the Interest of the Slovak Republic to Grant a National Visa to Highly Qualified Third-Country Nationals
targeted at students from top-tier universities (list of 500 universities worldwide),
targeted at highly qualified employees (e.g. managers, IT specialists, healthcare specialists, scientists and researchers, technical specialists),
national visa is granted for a maximum of 1 year.
Law No. 269/2022 Coll. on the Interest of the Slovak Republic to Grant a National Visa to Relocated Third-Country Nationals and Their Family Members
targeted at managerial employees or professionals with extraordinary specialized knowledge, skills, abilities, qualifications, and experience necessary for the operation or management of the enterprise, who are transferred from a mother company to its Slovak branch,
targeted at the family members of such transferred employees.
national visa is granted for a maximum of 1 year with the possibility of renewal.
Law No. 113/2023 Coll. on the Interest of the Slovak Republic to Grant a National Visa to Selected Groups of Third-Country Nationals
targeted at citizens of the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, the Republic of the Philippines, the Republic of Georgia, the Republic of India,
who will be employed as bus drivers or drivers of heavy goods vehicles or lorry drivers (international and national transport),
national visa is granted for a maximum of 1 year with the possibility of renewal.
Law No. 383/2023 Coll. on the Interest of the Slovak Republic to Grant a National Visa to Selected Groups of Third-Country Nationals in Selected Occupations in the Field of Industry
targeted at citizens of the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Republic of Montenegro, the Republic of the Philippines, the Republic of Georgia, the Republic of India, the Republic of Indonesia, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Moldova, the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, the Republic of North Macedonia, the Republic of Serbia, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine or the Republic of Uzbekistan,
who will be employed as: specialists in crop production, agronomist, specialists in animal production, zootechnician, cook (except chef), waiter, waitress, janitor, cattle, sheep, goat breeder, pig breeder, cow, sheep and goat milker, livestock farmer, logging worker in forestry, sawmill worker, bricklayer, construction ironworker, carpenter, metal welder, CNC machine setter, metalworker, construction and operating electrician, butcher, boner, poultry processor, meat and fish processor, baker, confectioner, milk processor, cheese manufacturer, butter manufacturer, fruit and vegetable processor, grain processor (miller), woodworking machine setter and operator, equipment operator in the metallurgical and foundry industries, rubber product machine operator, operator of equipment for processing and preserving meat, meat products and fish, assembly worker (operator) in mechanical engineering production, assembler (operator) of electronic equipment, assembly worker in chemical, rubber and plastics production, tractor driver (agriculture), construction machinery operator, forklift operator, cleaner, housekeeper, plant production assistant, auxiliary worker in livestock production, auxiliary worker in wood production, food production assistant, kitchen helper.
national visa is granted for a maximum of 1 year.
